Photography Master Class

Hello, welcome to my blog.

Today, I am going to throw some light on the basic things that one should keep in mind while making buying decision of a new DSLR (Digital Signal-lens reflex) camera.

I am sure; you must have purchased the Trick Photography and Special Effects e-book by Evan Sharboneau. If you haven’t, I recommend you to buy it now.

Click here to go to the official page of Evan’s e-book guide.

Evan has described in detail about the usage of DSLR camera while performing various mind-boggling photography tricks. If you already own a DSLR camera, then I am sure, until now, you must have mastered a couple of tricks. However, if you are planning to buy one, then following is a quick guide for you about how to choose a DSLR Camera.

First of all, if you are buying the DSLR camera from a nearby camera store, then always chose a reputed one. If possible get someone’s reference, so that when ever something goes wrong, you can avail services with ease. If you are buying it online, then land on a vendor’s website like Amazon or with same reputation. Buying expensive stuffs like a camera from an unknown web destination would sometime become a worst experience, when we need after-sales service, and its tough to communicate through emails.

Always go for a branded product. As far as DSLR cameras are concerned, both Canon and Nikon are good choices. You can buy any of them, both are quality products. Only thing that matter is your preferred features in the instrument, and the purpose for which you are buying it.

You should take care of a few aspects while choosing a desired product. Some of them are as follows:

  • Size of the camera: If you are going to take pictures holding the instrument in your hands, then any normal size camera would be good enough. However, if you are going to use it by placing it on a tripod, then you have a wider option to choose from.
  • Mega pixels of the camera: If you want a large picture output, then you can go for more than 10 pixel cameras. Otherwise, around 8 pixels is more than sufficient.
  • Additional Lens, Flash Guns and Filters: Normally, a DSLR camera comes with inbuilt lens, flash guns. For normal usage, you don’t need such extra items. However, if you are a professional or a photo enthusiast and want to explore various tricks and techniques of photography with your new DSLR camera, then you can opt in for additional lenses, flash guns and filters. There are tons of varieties available as per your requirement. You need different types of lens, flash lights and filters according to your need. They can help you in taking long and close-up shots, indoor and out door photography, specialize studio photography, etc.
  • Accessories: Don’t forget to get some basic accessories with your camera. If some of them are not offered along with your specific choice of product, then you can always purchase it separately. Some of the most important items are Neck Strap, Camera Bag, Dust Blower, Tripod, Spare Battery, Lens Cleaning Cloth, etc.

Trick Photography Book has a section where the author has mentioned in details the usage of all inbuilt and additional equipment.
